  JOB DESCRIPTION: The primary function of this position is to support and address production concerns for the BI Small accounts and Middle Markets Underwriting applications running in PASD. The position requires effectively troubleshooting production incident and participating in a team of 3
  - 5 employees and consultants with the daily responsibilities of monitoring the production environment. It involves working closely with the BI development partners to manage small changes to the applications. Technical Knowledge Has an expert level background in distributed applications, with knowledge of VB6, JAVA and .NET applications, but will consider other distributed application environment backgrounds. Has a expert level understanding of the environment needs of a Distributed application including use of SQL and COGNOS servers for various parts of an application (ex. Database, web services), various methods of interfacing within the application and vendor products (ex. MSACCESS). Understands the ramifications of infrastructure changes and can address for the BI applications within their responsibility. Business Knowledge & Partnership Creates an atmosphere where business partner issues are dealt with professionally, and in a timely manner. Communicates openly and effectively in a manner consistent with the audience. Problem Solving & Decision Making Demonstrates an expert level of analytic and diagnostic skills dealing with issues that are loosely defined and/or where information is available but must be analyzed further. Specific Job Description: The PASD BI IT organization is seeking an experienced and motivated individual to work with and mentor the BI Small Accounts and Middle Markets Underwriting Applications production team. Responsibilities include:
  -Work in a team of 3
  -5 employees and consultants providing mentoring and guidance.
  -Providing guidance and knowledge during technical calls to meet service level standards.
  -Supporting strategic applications transition to PASD production.
  -Conducting discussions with the BI development partners and Operations on the outstanding work considered emergency or non-emergency.
  -Providing a timely voice and/or email notification to the application contact list for problems encountered impacting the BI applications.
  -Attending Business meetings to review work, status, timelines, priorities, and issues.
  -Understand changes to the infrastructure and the impact to the BI applications and can effectively plan for the changes.

  SUMMARY:
  Provides expert programming and/or analysis skills primarily in support of the Records Retention mainframe indexing application. Interfaces with a large customer area comprised of data input and data retrieval staff and also interfaces daily with a film creating vendor named Anacomp.
  
  PRIMARY DUTIES:
  An expert technician assigned to support the Records Retention mainframe application. Technologies: COBOL, JCL, VSAM, CICS, KMS (KODAK Mainframe system) software and hardware. Works closely with vendor who creates 16mm film of policy issued transactions. Verifies daily returned index records for ultimate storage in a VSAM database (KMS) Has demonstrated the ability to perform programming and analysis functions at a very high degree of accuracy and speed Has advanced research and analysis skills Builds effective alliances Demonstrates a personal commitment to technology Can express technical solutions in the terms of business
