  • Online Coverage Verification Service Debuts
The Workers' Compensation Commission is pleased to announce the newest addition to its website, the agency's first interactive online service. This new service, called Coverage Verification Service or CVS, enables you to quickly see whether or not a business operating in the State of Connecticut has workers' compensation insurance coverage.

Our Coverage Verification Service provides information for (1) employers that have bought a workers' compensation insurance policy and (2) employers (both parent companies and their subsidiaries) that have obtained approval from the Workers' Compensation Commission to self-insure their workers' compensation liabilities. This information is based on the National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI) database, developed from insurance policy information reported to the Workers' Compensation Commission through its agent, NCCI.

Click here to use our new Coverage Verification Service.

  • UPDATE TO ADOBE READER 9 to Access Commission Forms and Publications
The Workers' Compensation Commission has added several updated forms and publications to our site during the past several months and, unfortunately, some of our customers have reported difficulties in accessing these documents on our site. Please accept our sincere apology for any inconvenience you may have encountered while unsuccessfully attempting to access our online documents.

As an initial step to address reported problems, we have removed all encryption (password protection) from more than 80 forms and publications; hopefully this step will alleviate any difficulties related to encryption on our documents.

We have also found that most often our customers who have reported these problems are using outdated versions of the Adobe Reader (formerly called the Acrobat Reader); some customers have Readers as old as 8 or 10 years, back to version 4, whereas the most up-to-date version of the Adobe Reader is version 9. It is a testament to the high quality of the Adobe Reader software that version 4 or 5 Readers have been able to provide robust service to computer users for so many years; however, no version of any software will provide compatibility forever and naturally, as the pace of technological change quickens, newer software will usually offer not only better compatibility, but in addition will usually provide greater security, enhanced reliability, and more advanced functionality. While we do make every effort to make our online information as “backward-compatible” as possible, we cannot always ensure that outdated software will be able to properly handle documents created in our own up-to-date software. Therefore, we ask that you assist in this effort by upgrading to the newest version of the Adobe Reader, version 9, which is available FREE of charge from Adobe Software:

Click here for the FREE Adobe Reader 9 from Adobe Software.

NOTE: Some customers have reported using a “full” version of Adobe’s Acrobat software (any version). It is indeed possible to use both a “full” version of Adobe’s Acrobat software alongside a new version Adobe Reader 9. Our experience has been, however, that if you are using any other Adobe READER software, you will have a problem, because your operating system (Microsoft Windows, for most customers) will not know which is the “correct” Adobe Reader. Before installing any new Adobe Reader, please un-install any old version(s) of the Adobe (or Acrobat) Reader you may have presently installed on your computer.
