After graduation from high school in Midland, TX he enlisted in the Army Air Corp. He served as an instructor of the bombardier school at Midland Army Air Force Base. His unit was one of the last to return to the states after victory was declared. After the war with a decorated military record, he began his Civil Service career at Pyote Air Force Base in Texas. There, he fell in love with Elois and they married May 10, 1947. He worked at Altus Air Force Base before finishing his career of 35 years at Holloman Air Force Base. In retirement, he did some of the things he loved all of his life. He built homes, traveled around the country and twice went overseas. In his later years, he studied genealogy and volunteered at the senior citizen center in Alamogordo.
