    The CIA recently released two significant collections of historical documents:
    The Family Jewels consists of almost 700 pages of responses from CIA employees to a 1973 directive from Director of Central Intelligence James Schlesinger asking them to report activities they thought might be inconsistent with the Agency's charter.
    The CAESAR-POLO-ESAU papers, consists of 147 documents and 11,000 pages of in-depth analysis and research from 1953 to 1973. The CAESAR and POLO papers studied Soviet and Chinese leadership hierarchies, respectively, and the ESAU papers were developed by analysts to inform CIA assessments on Sino-Soviet relations.

  • June 2007: CyberWar: Information Security
    A variety of individuals and groups are involved in Information Warfare attacks. The best known are probably hackers, who usually working alone, and hactivists, who often work as a group to promote a cause. In addition, national governments, terrorist groups, and criminal organizations perpetuate scams, phish for money, write viruses, and floods our email boxes with spam. Information Warfare experts don't necessarily agree on when and where the attacks will take place, or about the severity of the attack. Attacks are carried out in a wide variety of ways including spamming, spoofing, phishing, hacking, denial of service or distributed denial of service, jamming, network flooding, pinging, theft of information or service, viruses, trojan horses, worms, and logic bombs.
