- Amerihealth New Jersey President and CEO Roman Named Vice Chair of South Jersey Chamber of Commerce
Voorhees Township, NJ - December 11, 2008 - Judith L. Roman, president and CEO of AmeriHealth New Jersey, has been named vice chair of the Chamber of Commerce of Southern New Jersey (CCSNJ).
According to Debra P. DiLorenzo, CCSNJ president and CEO, Roman will be the first female vice chair in the Chamber's 130-plus year history.
In March 2006, Ms. Roman was named president and CEO of AmeriHealth New Jersey - New Jersey's top-rated health plan for customer service and quality of care, according to the annual HMO Performance Report - after serving for two years as the organization's vice president of provider relations. Roman has 25 years of experience in the health care industry. Since joining AmeriHealth in 2004 as vice president of provider relations, she has significantly expanded and strengthened AmeriHealth's provider network, especially in northern New Jersey. Roman has grown the organization to 230,000 members, while overseeing a senior staff of 10 executives and a team of nearly 200 associates. She has aggressively rejuvenated the company's leadership team and implemented a statewide communications strategy designed to create competitive differentiation for the organization. Prior to joining AmeriHealth New Jersey, Roman was vice president of medical delivery at WellChoice Inc., formerly known as Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield in New York. She also served as the regional vice president of medical delivery at Oxford Health Plans in Iselin, New Jersey.

Iselin and Mt. Laurel, NJ - November 13, 2008 - AmeriHealth New Jersey is the state's top-rated health plan for both Customer Service and Quality-of-Care, according to the 12th annual New Jersey HMO Performance Report, released by the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance (DOBI).
The HMO Performance Report contains information on the performance of New Jersey's HMOs, how well these HMOs deliver important health care services, and how members rate the services they receive. It is designed to provide both consumers and employers information on the quality of New Jersey's HMOs and the coverage they provide.
"A lot of industry metrics gauge HMO and Point-of-Service (POS) plan performance, but our customers consistently tell us they care most about quality of service and quality of care," said Judith L. Roman, president and CEO of AmeriHealth New Jersey. AmeriHealth's HMO and POS plans emerged with the most-satisfied customers in multiple categories of preventive care and treatment (as determined by the percentage of members ranking their HMO's performance as a "9" or "10" on an overall 1-10 scale, with "10" representing the best-possible grade. In addition to the highest ratings for Customer Service and Quality-of-Care (referred to in the report as Rating of Health Care), AmeriHealth is also the highest-rated carrier in related categories including Rating of Personal Doctor, Getting Needed Care and How Well Doctors Communicate, and shares the highest rating for Getting Care Quickly.

- More Than 3,300 Participants "Run the Bridge" to Support Local School for the Disabled
Cooper-Norcross Bridge Challenge benefits the Larc School
Camden, NJ - November 2, 2008 - More than 3,300 runners and walkers participated in today's 14th annual Cooper-Norcross Bridge Challenge, presented by AmeriHealth New Jersey.
Adrian Blincoe, 28, of Bryn Mawr, PA captured first place in the 10K run, with a time of 32 minutes and 50 seconds. Jane Murage, 21, of Royersford, NJ, led the women's division, coming in at 36 minutes and 59 seconds. These two runners led the way across the Ben Franklin Bridge to Philadelphia, then back toward the Camden waterfront where runners were treated to picturesque Delaware River sites, including the Adventure Aquarium, Tweeter Center, Battleship New Jersey and ending the race in Campbell's Field.
In the male division, 28 seconds behind Blincoe, Stephen Chemlany, 26, of Sleepy Hollow, NY captured second place. Second place finisher in the female division was Alemtsehay Misganaw of Langhorne, PA with a time 14 seconds behind Murage.

Prior to the race, Governor John Corzine urged participants to, "Run the bridge, run for Larc!" All proceeds from the race benefit the Larc School, which serves individuals with moderate to severe disabilities throughout South Jersey. With the record-breaking number of participants and the strong support of its corporate partners, proceeds from this year's race are expected to be at an all-time high.
Larc School, a private, non-profit organization located in Bellmawr, NJ, provides educational, therapeutic and recreational services to over 125 individuals with severe disabilities from pre-school to adult.
