  • RECORD MONEY: HOME PRICE CLOSE TO £200,000
    HOUSE prices increased by 0.4 per cent during August to sit just below the £200,000 barrier, Britain's biggest mortgage lender said. The gain - which was half the previous month's jump of 0.8 per cent - pushed the average cost of a UK home up to £199,770, according to Halifax. The property market continued to show signs of slowing down, with prices rising by less than 0.5 per cent in three of the past four months.
