Free Medical Clinic info
There are free medical and dental clinics located in many places throughout the US. This site will help you find them:http://freemedicalcamps.com/ Sincerely,Tre - Health Insurance responsible for dental damage?
I was diagnosed with breast cancer 6/6/06 at age 33.I had 4 months of chemo(Adriamyacin and Taxotere) which I finished in November 2006.Prior to my diagnosis,I had very good teeth as I had always taken care of them. After chemo,my teeth are horrible. Not only do they look bad but they cause me severe pain. They are crumbling and falling out,I have lost 4 already and right now I have 6 teeth with huge holes or broke off in the gum.My husband does have dental insurance through his employer but they only pay $1000 a year.I used that on one tooth for a root canal and a crown(my front tooth) and still had to pay $750.00 out of pocket. My oncologist says that my health insurance will fix my teeth since it was a direct result of treatment. He faxed them a statement that the damage did occur during treatment.I looked the info up in the policy book and it does seem true. The company is United Healthcare and they have been great so far, paying all claims.Has anyone had to deal with this situation? If so,what was your outcome? - Private Insurance options for cancer survivors
I am a single woman who has survived breast cancer. I lost my job due to the cancer, and went onto COBRA insurance which is really expensive... and will run out in 7 months. Does anyone know of any private insurance options? i am still not employed, and the one job possibility I have right now doesn't offer insurance coverage. I am running out of money and time! Any direction/resource would be helpful. Thanks. - PETscan approval or disapproval
Post treament by 9 months for Head and Nech cancer. Had Petscan 3 months out - showed clear. Scheduled for a PETscan a couple days ago. I learned a day before the scan that BCBS was still reviewing it. The drs. office had sent it in 30 days prior. The ins. is through the co. my husband works for and they are self insured. In the past, the benefits coordinator was extremely helpful in making everything go smoothly for me - she is trying in this case. One time is heard it was going to be disapproved and just yesterday I heard from the Dr,. office she will be talking with the Dr. in the review dept. I have also heard that it will now take more than 30 days for an approval or disapproval. These companies are risking our lives and I don't like it!Has anyone been through this and what was your outcome?SMW - FINANCIAL HELP ADVICE
For all those with problems with insurance coverage and hospital bills, please try these two things: Ask the hospital for financial aid, but be prepared to answer the application within 10 days, complete with tax forms and checking and savings account proof for 2 months past. Your billing at the hospital will be frozen for the time it takes to respond to your application, which can be up to 3 months. Anything you pay will not be reimbursed, so hold off on paying bills while the application is being reviewed. If you have monies that are committed somewhere, like to house repairs, have contracts attached to prove the money is committed legally prior to the time of the application. You may recieve 100% relief from all unpaid hospital bills for the past and for the next 6 months or even a year. It helps to keep all your treatment at one hospital, including lab work and all those things that can happen elsewhere. There is also a website www.chp.com that in Maryland helps with advice for these things. There may be something like that in your state. Ask the hospital. CHP meets one at the hospital to discuss your situation. Ask in many places until you find out. Good luck. - Insurance plans must be changed!
A friend of mine has had a remarkable journey with cancer. You can go to his website and blog to learn more. I am so proud of him for doing this because the more people that learn about the alternative treatments available outside the U.S. with positive and life saving results the better chance we have of conforming and helping our medical, insurance and big pharma agencies to work for us in a more positive and myriad potentially life saving ways with less side effects on the body than conventional cancer treatments. He has also had horrible experiences with getting his insurance company to cover his treatment. Ok im sooo angry. There has to be a place or cancer hot line or something to call.He has Medicare but we all know it doesn't cover prescriptions. I tried to appeal to the union and get them to pay but theres nothing i can doIve called walmart because i know they have a program if you have no coverage, but of course the drugs my dads needs (Oxycontin, Fentanyl patch) are not under the plan. Those two drugs alone are like over $1000 a month! not to mention the other 6 Rx's hes on.So now what do we do? where do we turn too? Please anyone?thanks xoxo Christine (long island NY) - Health Insurance - Employee-related
I was wondering if any of you when diagnosed with cancer carried the health insurance through your current employer and then had to switch employers a little bit after being diagnosed with cancer? The reason for asking is I need some advice about health insurance as I may have to go through this, and don't know what to do, as I may not be covered by another insurance provider because of the cancer that I had and could reoocur in the future. - Insurance Comment
For all of you who are considering voting for our presumptive Republican candidate - if for no other reason than to save on taxes - think again. What we need is more more social conscience. If we don't begin to chip in for some of the services that we ourselves may depend on in the future, we will end up reaching our "maximums", being denied proper medical care and ultimately dying while the marvels of modern medicine will only be available to very few. Judging from the subject matter, we are almost there. My husband had an "on the job accident" and ended up in the clutches of the Workers Comp system. Once that happens, you can no longer use your regular insurance coverage to treat the condition that caused the need for Workers Comp coverage. The system is, at best, flawed and certainly not set up to benefit the workers. My husband injured his knee. He had to hire an attorney to force Crumb & Forester (the coverage administrator) to approve basic tests and doctor visits. Crumb & Forester tortured my husband and his doctors. We became characters in a John Grisham novel. After 18 months of excruciating pain the first corrective surgery was approved. It was "too little too late". What could have been one simple procedure ended up in a complicated knee replacement. The next battle was with Prudential. Another attorney had to be hired to "persuade" Purdential to pay the long term disability benefit on which they collected premiums for over 6 years. We learned. Our legal representatives told us that the Bush administration implemented laws that have allowed insurance companies to get away with more acts of overt, unreasonable and improper behavior than ever before. Many people cannot afford insurance. Those who do have it (often at a great financial sacrifice) may not get what they pay for.We cannot continue to be ignorant. The information is o
