We sat down with two members of the Wilkins family just before the new year. His 25-year-old daughter Elizabeth was Barack Obama’s field director in Michigan. Mike Cuthbert talked with them about the president-elect’s campaign and his road to the White House, and what it meant to them personally. “An author, radio host, actor, activist, and oral historian, Studs Terkel did have a single focus – to bring the voice of the common man or women into the public dialogue. Terkel died on October 31 at the age of 96, and he will be missed most of all by the radio community, who felt he was their patron saint. After all, he believed in the power of a single person’s story to represent history, and perhaps to change it. Mike Cuthbert interviewed Studs several times over the past decade.
