I'm researching the Walter family who lived in Somerset Co. MD in the 1800's. Is there anyone out there doing the same? I don't have much but will gladly share with all. William James Walter b. May 1836 to son James H. b 1863. I noticed a Roger Walter on the Ark (or Dove) that landed 1634 MD. Does anyone have his line? Thanks for any help you can give this struggling researcher! Charles Bernhard Walter Sr was the son of Bernhard Walter and Anna Tillman. Their son Charles Bernhard Walter Jr married Bessie Autrieth b.29 Aug 1899 on 26 Dec 1934 in Kansas City, MO. Bessie Autrieth was the daughter of Ella Heath and her husband John A. Autrieth from Benton County, Missouri. - Charles B Walter Jr b. 1910 married Bessie Autrieth MO-TX (Potter Co and Brazoria Co)

I am looking for information on Joseph Walter, a German who emigrated from the Ukraine to North Dakota around 1900. He was born approximately 1875. He married Barbara Renner. I have some information on the Renner family, but nothing on the Walter family before Joseph. I don't know how he came to the U.S., the year, or his village in Russia. I am seeking information on Edward Walter, born around 1868 in Wisconsin. His father and mother were German, according to census records from 1910 to 1930. He married Anna Swazina b. 1876(Swatzina) in 1894 in Chippewa County, where he settled near the town of Boyd. His children were Joseph 1896, Henry Roman 1898, Sylvester 1902, Richard 1905, Genvieve 1907, Gertrude 1908, Magdeline 1909(my great-grandmother) and George 1914. Anna's father was George Swazina, born in 1842, who also had a son named John, born in 1883. If anyone has heard of this family, please let me know. - Ralph E. Ralph E. Walter Ralph E. Walter, 86, of 1650 Lakeview Ave., North East, died Tuesday, September 2, at Select Specialty Hospital, Erie. He was born April 1, 1922 in Rawson, Ohio, the son the late William and Anna Butler Walter. He was descendant of Johannes and Barbara Moke Walter who immigrated to Ohio from Alsace, France in 1854. Ralph graduated with a degree in electrical engineering from Ohio Northern University, Ada, Ohio and received a master's degree in engineering from Pennsylvania State University. Following 2 years in the Navy, transporting troops home from Europe after World War II, he married Ruthanna Vannorsdall, June 6, 1948, in Gatlinburg, Tennessee at the Methodist Church. He then spent his career of 36 years working as an electrical engineer for the Locomotive Division of General Electric Company, Erie. Ralph had many interests and made many contributions to the community. He enjoyed forestry and nature and spent many hours at his tree farm in Spartansburg, Pa. He was a genealogist, a reader, and a Sunday School teacher. He was a member of the Baker Creek Watershed Association, the North East Historical Society, the North East Cultural Center, and the Park United Methodist Church. He also served as a member of the North East School Board and was active in the opposition to legalized gambling in Pennsylvania. A sister, Mary Gallaway, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife Ruthanna Vannorsdall Walter as well as by three children and their families, Peggy Norris and her husband Joseph Suplicki of Elmwood Park, New Jersey, Rhoda Walter and her partner Birch Berman of Winthrop, Washington, and Stephen Walter of Spartansburg, Pa.; a sister, Evelyn Meyers of Delphos, Ohio also survives. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Janessa Walter, Pittsburgh, Pa., Daniel Walter, Spartansburg, Pa., Andrew Norris, Ridgefield Park, N.J. and Elizabeth Norris, Elmwood Park, N.J.
