SUMMARY:
Complete formal training program for consideration of advancement to claim representative position.
Investigate, evaluate, negotiate and resolve claims on losses of lesser value and complexity.
Provide outstanding customer service.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
Participate in on-going training sessions for specific line of business.
Provide voice-to-voice contact with customers within 24 hours of first report of the loss.
Obtain facts from insurers, injured workers, claimants, agents, witnesses, attorneys and/or underwriters relating to the insurance claim.
Determine coverage/compensability, facts of loss and degree of liability/exposure. Maintain contact with the customer throughout the life of the file, as needed.
Work closely with Team Leader, Unit Manager or mentor to promptly resolve claim issues.
Refer claims to other resources as appropriate, based on exposure and established guidelines.
Maintain quality claim files in accordance with appropriate best practices recognize and implement alternate means of resolution.
EDUCATION/COURSE OF STUDY:
College degree or equivalent business experience preferred.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Solid keyboard and PC skills, with experience in Word and Excel.
OTHER:
A general understanding of insurance; it is helpful to understand medical concepts and terminology and/or construction principles and terminology.
Solid interpersonal and customer service skills.

SUMMARY:
The position of Claim Operations Specialist at Travelers represents an excellent opportunity to advance your career into the field of a Claims Professional! As a member of our Operations Support Team, we will train you on all essential aspects of a Property & Casualty Claim Department. You will be given the opportunity to demonstrate your dependability, aptitude, reliability and work ethic!
In this position you will provide superior front line operational support to our Sacramento Claim Service Center by learning and performing the following essential tasks: financial transactions, telephonic customer service, update/maintain management information, triage and assign new claims, provide other administrative functions as assigned.
Qualified candidates will be able to use their good judgment and knowledge to solve problems and provide a high level of service to internal and external customers.

Perform administrative duties for claim representatives medical case managers and supervisors. Issue claim payments amounts would be based on local discretion and product line guidelines. Obtain and document medical information at the direction of the medical case manager. Assist staff with general office procedures and problems.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
Provide administrative assistance by typing, taking dictation, handling telephone calls, setting up meetings and performing other duties, as assigned.
Maintain activity records and complete required monthly reports.
Maintain and control check issuance, as required. Pay bills, file forms, photocopy and type, as requested.
Input data and prepare reports, process computer checks, prepare for mailing and maintain appropriate records.
Update files and close files, as requested. Prepare closed files for shipping and storage.
Maintain up-to-date files, attaching correspondence as appropriate.
Process cancelled checks, credits and document activity on systems note screens, as required.
Manage a daily diary & ICMS to do list through completing requested activities.
Customer Service contact in order give, receive, or exchange information.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Knowledge of claim support functions, including check processing and data entry, is preferred.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
Basic communication
SKILLS REQUIRED: to request and provide routine data and to respond to oral and written instructions.
Deals with information that is considered personal and confidential.
OTHER:
Four year college degree preferred. All majors considered. 3.0 overall GPA preferred.

Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize daily assignments
Must be highly organized with ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously to meet deadlines. Strong attention to detail is a must!

Claim handling or customer service experience a plus but not required. The desire to become a claim handler with the best in the business is essential!
Manual Skills:
Large parts of daily assignments require motor coordination with finger dexterity, e.g. typing machine operations.
Analytical skills:
Problem solving generally defined, but may need to be clarified in order to proceed.

If you are an engineer with broad experience in the areas of building construction, building codes, building damage assessments, and structural design that is looking for a career change or a challenge, we have an outstanding opportunity for you to join our nationally recognized forensics team.
As a member of the Travelers Forensic Engineering Laboratory team, you will work with the Claim Department to investigate a wide variety of Construction Defect type losses, provide internal consulting to Property, Liability, and Subrogation Claims professionals, conduct onsite investigations, perform failure analyses, provide training to Claim and Risk Control staff, and act as an expert in litigation. Construction Defect losses can include, failure analysis of electrical, mechanical and material systems/components, product liability, code evaluation and other issues to complete an investigation.
This position requires a bachelor's degree (minimum) in engineering, physics, or a closely related field of study. The successful candidate will have at least five years of experience in the practical application of their discipline and also specific experience with various aspects of Construction Project management, including planning, design, estimating, and project execution. The successful candidate will have strong mechanical, electrical and chemical/materials aptitude and have hands on experience since a significant portion of their work will involve how products or systems operate and fail. Previous experiences in organizing and participating in forensic type investigations, including construction bond claims, accident analysis, etc., preferred. The ability to clearly and persuasively communicate highly technical information to a lay audience is essential. Although domiciled in Connecticut, responsibilities include some country wide travel.
