- ACGME Thoracic Surgery Resident (United States)
Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City has a first year ACGME accredited Cardiothoracic Surgery Residency position available. This is a structured three year program. The first year resident is chief on the general thoracic service and will gain a vast experience in both open and minimally invasive approaches to thoracic procedures such as lobectomy, esophagectomy, and thymectomy. The division also performs endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) guided and GPS (superdimension) directed lung and lymph node biopsies.
The second year consists of gaining skills in a wide range of pediatric and adult cardiac procedures. Our Cardiac residents are exposed to surgeries for the treatment of valvular disease, aortic root and Ross procedures, ascending, arch and descending aortic aneurysms and dissections, congenital cardiac defects and coronary disease. Our mitral valve repair center gives fellows the unique opportunity to learn this complex operation from world renowned mitral valve experts. The residency also provides exposure to ventricular assist devices and heart transplantation through our heart failure program. The third year revolves around the resident's field of interest. This year is used to build a foundation for the resident?s future career.

Jersey City Medical Center, a tertiary care hospital in Jersey City, NJ, is recruiting a Physician Assistant for our Cardiothoracic Surgery Department.
This position requires successful completion of a qualified Physician Assistant program and current certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants and the New Jersey State Board on the Regulation of Physician Assistants, current BLS card and ACLS. Previous experience in cardiothoracic and operating room settings , including endoscopic vein harvesting a plus. Excellent interpersonal communication and patient teaching skills.

A Postdoctoral research fellow position is available July 1, 2009 in the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the VA Medical Center and University of California , San Francisco for studies of ventricular remodeling, myocardial infarction, ischemia/reperfusion injury, mesenchymal stem cell transplantation, gene therapy and surgical remodeling.
Applicants must have an M.D degree. This position is available only for American citizen or permanent resident. The applicant must have a medical license from any state in the US in order to be considered. Training and experience in experimental biology, molecular imaging, bioengineering/biophysics and animal surgery are preferred.
