• ACGME Thoracic Surgery Resident (United States)
  

  Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City has a first year ACGME accredited Cardiothoracic Surgery Residency position available. This is a structured three year program. The first year resident is chief on the general thoracic service and will gain a vast experience in both open and minimally invasive approaches to thoracic procedures such as lobectomy, esophagectomy, and thymectomy. The division also performs endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) guided and GPS (superdimension) directed lung and lymph node biopsies. The second year consists of gaining skills in a wide range of pediatric and adult cardiac procedures. Our Cardiac residents are exposed to surgeries for the treatment of valvular disease, aortic root and Ross procedures, ascending, arch and descending aortic aneurysms and dissections, congenital cardiac defects and coronary disease. Our mitral valve repair center gives fellows the unique opportunity to learn this complex operation from world renowned mitral valve experts. The residency also provides exposure to ventricular assist devices and heart transplantation through our heart failure program. The third year revolves around the resident's field of interest. This year is used to build a foundation for the resident?s future career. Requirements for application are: 1.
