  • ROMANCE OF COTTON

Cotton Council International in alliance with the designer-duo, Meera and Muzaffar Ali presented a fashion show “Romance of Cotton” at ITC Maurya Sheraton, New Delhi to celebrate the importance of cotton fabric in India.

Meera and Muzaffar of Kotwara Studios brought alive the glamorous side of cotton on the ramp by crafting the ingenuity of the fabric in design appliqués that created a wonderful story of silhouettes, cuts and colors. Top-notch models like Indrani Das Gupta, Joey mathews, Sapna Kumar, Nayanika Chatterjee, Aanchal Kumar, Krishna Somani, Laxmi Rana, Sonalika Sahay and Tina Chatwal saunter the ramp ablaze with golden glow.

“India has a very strong cotton heritage but these man-made fibers have eroded that, so we feel important to support it. We would like to tell people that there is no fabric as relaxed and gentle as cotton is how one can feel free while wearing it. That’s why we decided on Meera and Muzaffar who have a strong background of creating beautiful garbs in the cotton”, said Agnieszka Fijol, Senior Manager of South Asia, CCI.

“We have always been enthusiastic in using Indian crafts and fabrics in our collection and delighted to be a part of this special cotton celebration through our cotton collection”, said the designer.

  • IRA -2050

Priyanka Chopra launched the Ira- Love Story 2050 jewelry collection at the Vie Lounge in Mumbai earlier this week. Giving her company was director (or would be father in law?) Harry Baweja. The sultry, sexy lass looked sizzling hot in an A-shaped, black and magenta, printed short dress and stunningly gleaming black stilettos perfectly matched with lustrous diamond accessories. Once unveiled, the Ira Love StoryCollection narrated a tale of its own..

As Ankit Mehta, Director, Ira, puts it- “We conducted a month long survey of what the youth wants to wear in the future. Then we blended it with the contemporary designs so that it holds relevance even if someone wants to wear it today. The outcome is futuristic, yet contemporary. I am hoping that this collection lasts till 2050!”

So has she tried the jewelry, or is she just promoting the movie. “Oh I have worn it forever, I feel. I have been flaunting it everywhere I go, too bad you guys didn’t notice! I first wore it during a trial, but had some hang ups with the designs. We thought they were not futuristic enough. Our stylists, Thea and Puja sat with the in house designers at Ira and after painstaking sessions of ‘to be’ or ‘not to be’, we finally freezed on the collection” reveals Priyanka.

A gimmick in true filmi ishtyle, involved Boo, her pink pet teddy robot in the movie, present a diamond-studded ring to Priyanka, which she excitedly accepted and even wore. “I am very fond of jewelry. What I am wearing generally depends on where I am going. But usually I like to do a lot of mix and match. Boo is my best friend in the future.  He keeps reminding me of my food, my make up, my things; he folds my clothes, he entertains me- he is just always there with me. That’s why you find me with him even in the posters”

The last one month has seen one of the most aggressive promotional strategies for a movie in recent times. Priyanka’s long-standing boyfriend and debutant actor Harman Baweja awarded the winners of The Fame Reel Kids contest yesterday in the city. Last week, the two were present at Cinemax to launch the special edition of merchandise inspired by the futuristic flick. With all this publicity and media hype, the Bawejas have sure raised t
